About this Course

Enjoy a two-hour docent-guided tour of the Holyland Exhibition, founded in 1924 by a man rumored to be the real-life inspiration for Indiana Jones. Unlike the film hero, he never discovered the Ark but his love affair with the Holyland resulted in an incredible collection of artifacts from Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Cyprus and Palestine – some nearly 2,000 years old. Costumed guides will showcase the exhibits and tell the story of the items as they relate to the Bible and ancient traditions and customs. Following, enjoy an included lunch with choice of sandwich at the famous Canter’s Deli, which has offered an authentic Jewish deli-style experience since 1931. Then you will visit the Monastery of the Angels, a hidden spiritual oasis in Hollywood where a community of cloistered Dominican nuns create wonderful hand-dipped chocolates, pumpkin bread and other goods for purchase.
